Brilliant/crazy Lego Star Wars ice planet

Kicks the crap out of the styrofoam Hoth set my sister and I made.

60,000-Piece Lego Star Wars Hoth Diorama Features LEDs, Footprints [Lego]

Not only is this Lego Star Wars diorama of the ice world Hoth fun to look at, it's got some gadgety goodness inside too. Oh, and footprints. Tons of tiny minifig footprints.

As the headline says, the 5′X10′ diorama is comprised of 60,000 Lego bricks. It cost creator Mark Borlase about $3,000 and four years of construction time to complete.

There's also the 50 LED lights that illuminate the Echo Base hangar and bacta tank with a soothing blue. Motorized AT-AT wenches and a fully operational hanger door top off this gorgeous pile of eye candy.

And according to the block heads over at Brothers Brick the diorama also won the recent "Star Wars building challenge" and was featured in the official LEGO Magazine.

Impressive. Most impressive [Flickr Set via Brothers Brick]

...and reset the iPhone mess'o'icons with

Settings>General>Reset  -- which seems to put everything into a random order.

Bug/Feature/Stupid iPhone Trick: remove unwanted iPhone home app icons

I'm sick of the Stocks app on the iPhone. I don't use it, and even if I did, I would want to avoid the temptation to check my holdings every 5 minutes (they would probably be in a tailspin with the rest of the economy). I'd rather use the slot for a video game or similarly useless app. Today, I made it disappear, completely by accident, along with the iTunes Store app. Fortunately, the functionality of the iTunes Store can be called back via the iPod feature, by touching "get more" when looking at lists of podcasts. But not the Stocks app. RIP. Cue the Sad Guys On Trading Floors.

I had hidden the Stocks app icon on the very last page of apps, in the bottom right corner. I moved a few other items onto that page until it filled up. When I dragged one more item onto that page, the Stocks app FELL OFF THE PAGE and could no longer be found!

You can have 9 pages of apps, each with 16 apps, in addition to the 4 favorites in the bottom silver tray. If you were to put one app on each page and leave the bottom tray empty, you could probably pull off this trick with no more than 25 apps total.

Apple probably never intended for us to have so many apps, but the iPod OS interface really needs a way to better organize stuff, with folders or a way to set things up from the iTunes synch screens.

Pollo Rico is back!

Looks a little too tidy to be as good as the old one, but a few months
should suffice to get chicken grease into the walls. A big crowd and
more space in the kitchen. The true test (eating) as soon as I get it
home.

well after a smegload of work it's done. Here is the press release we just sent out:

Space Giraffe For The PC Now Released!!

We're proud to announce that we have released an enhanced Space Giraffe for the PC. You can download a demo from here:

http://www.llamasoft.co.uk/downloads/SpaceGiraffe.exe

This is more than just a copy of the Xbox 360 game! In the intervening time the development of the Neon engine has continued, and we now have a lovely new shader library. These new shaders have been used to create a NUXX mix of Space Giraffe which is at once much nicer-looking than the original, and alsoless intensely psychedelic (one criticism of SG 360 was that some of the effects were *too* intense; accordingly the new mix is beautiful and abstract without being quite so overwhelming).

For those who do enjoy the full-on psychedelia of the original, that is still available, because SG PC comes with two packs of 100 levels each - the NUXX smoother mix and the Acid Mix which is the levels from SG 360. We also added the capability for us to make available further level packs - which can be completely new levels rather than simply remixes - should there be sufficient interest.

We could make chillout level packs, ultra-intense packs, shorter game packs (maybe 20 levels instead of 100 for those who want a shorter game), special themed packs to celebrate Christmas or L. Ron Hubbard's birthday - whatever people would like.

You can buy a copy from the New Llamasoft Shop where you will also find other great Llamasoft releases:

https://www.llamasoft.co.uk/shop

So please download the game and give it a whirl. There's a lot of helpful information on how to play right here:

http://www.llamasoft.co.uk/games/space-giraffe

And if you do like the game then please do whatever you can to spread the word to others who might enjoy it - mentioning it in blogs, linking to it, whatever you can do would be helpful, since we at Llamasoft have a marketing staff of NOBODY and a marketing budget of NOTHING.

}:-)

so how many iPhone devs are teenagers?

Looking at the comments in the Touch Arcade forums (http://forums.toucharcade.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2) makes me think this thing is the new Commodore 64. It's odd to hear of people "saving up" for $2 apps, or choosing between them to save money.
